CALGARY, Alta. – Despite the millions of people who see stretches of it every day, two Canadian filmmakers plan to show the Trans-Canada Highway from a new perspective.

The pair aim to bring the Trans-Canada Highway to the big screen in their documentary entitled The Longest Road. David Schultz and Kevin Alexander say they’ll examine the history of the highway and the Canadians who travel it.

“I think what inspired us to do the show is the very fact that people think that it is dull,” says Schultz. “I mean we drive it everyday and take (it) for granted, but really it links Canada from east to west. It’s what’s fascinating about it. You talk to anybody and they have a story about what happened to them on the Trans-Canada Highway.”

The documentary is a National Film Board production and filming is slated to begin in September. n
