Truck insurers will merge

TORONTO, Ont. – Truck insurers Hargraft Wood Fleming and Schofield Insurance Brokers have announced plans to merge into a firm to be known as Hargraft Schofield Inc., in a deal to close June 7.

J. Ross Schofield, currently president of Schofield Insurance Brokers, will become chairman, while Hargraft Wood Fleming president Ian R. Eddy will serve as president and CEO.

“The combined operations will form a platform to become a dominant force in the areas where the respective firms specialize – particularly in transportation insurance,” Eddy said when announcing the deal.

Schofield Insurance Brokers was established in 1981, while Hargraft Wood Fleming’s history dates back to 1874. n
