CHICAGO, Ill. — Two Cummins executives were honoured at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) annual Commercial Vehicle Engineering Congress and Exhibition, held Nov. 1-3 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Metro Chicago.
Vice president and chief technical officer Dr. John Wall was awarded the prestigious 2005 Sid Olsen Engineering Manager Award.
Established in 1995, the Sid Olsen Award recognizes an outstanding engineering manager in the off-highway industry. Dr. Wall received his award at an evening banquet attended by 300 guests, including senior Cummins executives and Wall’s family.
Executive director and technical leader of the 2007 Heavy Duty Engine Program, Dr. Steve Charlton, received the L. Ray Buckendale Award and delivered the 50th Annual Buckendale Lecture.
The Buckendale Award and Lecture is named for the 1946 SAE President and dedicated to developing the potential of young engineers and students. This year’s lecture was the second in a three-year series focused on the commercial vehicle industry and emission standards.
