LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Toronto-based Wilson Logistics is setting up shop south of the border through the creation of a new corporate entity.

Wilson Logistics Nevada, the new Wilson property, “has signed a 10 + 10-year contract with Republic Services Inc. of Southern Nevada,” according to the new company.

Wilson Logistics Nevada will haul solid waste from various Las Vegas transfer stations to the Republic Apex Landfill.

“The move into the U.S. was a natural step for Wilson Logistics,” says James D. Wilson, chairman and chief executive officer. “We began hauling solid waste from Toronto to Michigan on behalf of the City of Toronto at the beginning of last year and in early December we signed a second contract with the City of Toronto that will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2003.”

Under the terms of the contract with Republic Services of Southern Nevada, Wilson Logistics Nevada will haul 1.7 million tonnes of solid waste per year, or approximately 350 truckloads per day. To put that into perspective, when Wilson started hauling for Hogtown, the contract equated to 40 truckloads per day and in 2003 that number is expected to be about 160 truckloads per day. In addition, Wilson also started a new leasing company, Trailcon Leasing North America.
