Yukon re-examines spring weight restrictions

WHITEHORSE, Yukon – Truckers who frequent the Yukon are being asked to provide input into that province’s seasonal load restrictions, which are in place during thaw periods.

Currently, the Yukon varies their spring weight restrictions depending on weather and other factors.

However, the province is considering adopting a system similar to Quebec’s, where there will be several zones with fixed dates for load restrictions.

This is aimed at making it more convenient for truckers.

They will no longer have to worry about reducing loads en-route to comply with changes in load restrictions during the spring thaw.

The B.C. Trucking Association is asking its members to provide input by faxing comments to 604-888-2941. n
