TORONTO, Ont. — The Ontario Trucking Association (OTA) has begun its annual search for the Truck Driver of the Year.

They’re looking for a driver with an “impeccable safety record, courteous attitude on and off the road, and a role model in his or her community.”

The award, sponsored by Volvo, includes a $500 cash prize. It will be presented at the OTA convention in November.

To be eligible, a driver must have been employed regularly for the previous five years and have no preventable collisions during that time. The award is available to company drivers and owner/operators contracted to OTA member companies.

The winner will also be considered for the CTA/Volvo Trucks Canada National Truck Driver of the Year award, which is accompanied by a cheque for $1,000. A nomination form can be downloaded here. For more info, e-mail: OTAcommunications@ontruck.org.
