2005 trade with U.S. up 10 points
WASHINGTON -- Trade via surface transportation between the U.S. and its North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) partners Canada and Mexico was 10 percent higher in 2005 than in 2004, the second consecutive year of growth of at least 10 percent, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Rail carloadings dip slightly, but up overall
OTTAWA -- Railway loadings declined in January this year compared with December, but only slightly, says a Stats Can report. However, business is booming for rail. In fact, on a year-over-year basis, tonnage increased at its fastest pace in three years the first month of 2006.
