Trailer Security

The Trail-R-Lock from Oshawa, Ont.-based Menco Security Systems will securely lock the barn doors of a trailer and thus prevent “smash-and-grab” types of theft. Unlike padlocks, chains, and other devices, the Trail-R-Lock is invisible from the outside and will not “advertise” the fact that high-value cargo is on board. It uses existing trailer-door hardware and bolt-holes for installation, requiring only two new holes to be drilled. High-security keys are coded and only available from Menco’s encrypted database. The locking bolt is connected to the key assembly by a strong, flexible cable.

A physical attack on the key face will not compromise the bolt’s integrity, Menco says. Versions are available for roll-up doors.
