ArvinMeritor to cut 1,850 jobs worldwide: AP
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Commercial components supplier ArvinMeritor Inc. plans to cut 1,850 jobs at 11 plants, or about six per cent of its global work force, the Associated Press reported yesterday.
On Tuesday, the company reported a second-quarter 2005 loss of $33 million, compared with a profit of $41 million at the same time last year.
In its Securities and Exchange Commission filing, ArvinMeritor officials said the cuts will primarily affect the company’s light-vehicle segment, mostly located outside the U.S., according to AP.
ArvinMeritor has about 31,000 employees at 120 plants in 25 countries.
