SAN RAMON, Calif. — ChevronTexaco Products Company recently announced that its Chevron Delo 400 Multigrade SAE 15W-40, Chevron RPM SAE 15W-40, Texaco Ursa Premium TDX SAE 15W-40 and Ursa Super Plus SAE 15W-40 meet the new Detroit Diesel Corporation Power Guard Oil Specification 93K214.

“Through our work with the OEMs and fleets, we are constantly assessing the needs of the market and positioning our products to meet new specifications before they are officially introduced,” said Gary Parsons, commercial automotive business unit manager, ChevronTexaco Products Company. “New engine technologies are much more complex which means OEMs need lubricants that meet both API and their own unique requirements.”

In addition to meeting Detroit Diesel Corporation Power Guard Oil Specification 93K214 and API CI-4 PLUS, all of ChevronTexaco’s premium heavy-duty multigrade engine oils continue to meet the performance requirements for EGR, ACERT, European, Asian, and previous generation on-highway and off-highway diesel engines.

The Detroit Diesel Corporation Power Guard engine oil specification 93K214 is for use in model year 2002 and newer Series 50 and 60, and MBE 900 and 4000 engines in on-road applications.

Due to the proliferation of OEM specifications, and the rapidly changing requirements for new emission controlled engines, Detroit Diesel Corporation is departing from its long-standing position of utilizing only API Service Categories to identify recommended engine oils.
