Coolant filter captures contaminants

by Today's Trucking

EnviroCool’s coolant cleaner filter collects contaminants using a 10-micron filter that can be disposed of in landfills.

The filters work in two steps. A cleaner filter spins in place of the traditional coolant filter, before driving 16,000 km. Then the cleaner is replaced with an inhibitor for the next 160,000 km.

OEMs recommend cleaning the cooling system every year, the supplier says.

It adds that more than 50% of engine failures originate in cooling systems, and that 40% of all engine downtime relates to cooling-related maintenance.
