KIRKLAND Wash. — Kenworth now offers Watson & Chalin’s new 20,000-pound Tru-Track steerable lift axle on Kenworth T800, W900 and C500 models used for vocational service, including heavy haul, logging and dump truck applications.

“The 20K steerable pusher enables truck operators to keep weight down and increase payload capacity,” said Steve Gilligan, Kenworth general marketing manager. “Customers can also benefit from the reduced stress on the frame and chassis, as well as reduced tire scrubbing, provided by a steerable lift axle suspension.”

The steerable lift axle suspension, which can function in either pusher or tag configurations, features an integrated axle design that eliminates the need to specify a separate axle, resulting in reduced weight, increased axle travel and improved wheel cut.

The new offering complements Kenworth’s extensive line of factory-installed steerable and non-steerable lift axles. The benefits of factory-installed lift axles include factory warranty, and Kenworth engineering review of the air and brake systems and frame strength.

“These factors add peace of mind for Kenworth customers and eliminates the guesswork out of adding a pusher in the aftermarket,” Gilligan said.
