The X-One Multi Energy T is the newest addition to Michelin’s X One tire family. According to the company, the tire offers “significant reduction in irregular wear” along with “outstanding fuel economy, while allowing fleets to carry more than 700 pounds of additional freight versus dual applications.”
The X-One Multi Energy T is constructed in such a was as to change the shape of the casing during use in order to reduce irregular wear and to create a contact patch with a consistent footprint, regardless of payload weight. It also has solid shoulders and incorporates the company’s Infini-Coil technology. In comparison to the X-One XTE (which is being replaced by the new tire), Michelin said the Multi Energy T reduces rolling resistance by 15%.
It is currently offered as a 445/50R22.5 but in early 2015, Michelin expects to offer the tire as a 455/50R22.5 as well.
“Regional fleets that focus on fuel and weight will benefit from the performance of the new Michelin X One Multi Energy T offering. This tire also fights irregular wear, which is especially important for trailer tires, as fleets often experience this issue in both dual and wide base single tires,” said Adam Murphy, vice-president of marketing for Michelin Americas Truck Tires.
