PowerPro Extreme 12 starters get added protection

by Today's Trucking

Leece-Neville’s PowerPro Extreme 12 starters are now supported with iRelay, an “intelligent relay” offering protection that can be customized to OEM requirements.

The feature comes in the form of a standard SW030 starter control relay with an electronic module that can be programmed using microprocessors.

The end result is a barrier against early failures caused by cranking issues, pinion and ring gear tooth abutments, and more, the company says. iRelay can also protect against starter engagement into a running engine and under-speed cranking, among other issues.

Specifications can be adjusted to meet requirements for single- and dual-starter applications.

PowerPro Extreme 12 starters deliver 24-volt, 12-kW starting power for diesel engines up to 40 liters in a single configuration. Coverage includes Case, Caterpillar, Cummins, Hitachi, John Deere, Komatsu and MTU equipment.
