Pratt introduces GSL 412 lightweight chassis

Pratt Industries has unveiled its Super Lightweight 412 intermodal chassis (GLS 412) that weighs 4,550 lb. unladen while carrying a gross payload capacity of 66,000 lb.

The GSL 412 is 700 pounds lighter than previous Pratt models but maintains the same structure, the company said in a news release. This will allow chassis users to save another 100 lb. by switching from standard dual tires to super singles.

The trailers also feature aluminum landing gear, large-diameter axles, sealed wiring harnesses and LED lighting.

This newest lightweight model is being introduced in commemoration of the company’s 50th anniversary.

“The new GSL 412 embodies our customer commitment by addressing their needs to maximize load capacity and reduce fuel consumption,” said Joel Schubach, Pratt’s chief operating officer and part-owner.
