BOSTON, Mass. — Cole Hersee Company introduces its Thirteen Pole Plug and Socket.

This product meets the expanding needs of the trucking industry by providing six extra contacts within the standard configuration of a tractor-trailer connection.

With the implementation of advanced technological systems, such as: trailer Anti-Lock Braking Systems (ABS); trailer temperature, load, and monitoring; on-board weighing; rear vision blind spot correction; and satellite trailer tracking, the Thirteen Pole Plug eliminates the risk of misconnection by enabling operators to connect all trailer circuits with just one plug.

The Thirteen Pole Plug surpasses SAE J560b performance standards and conforms to the requirement of interchangeability between thirteen and seven pole sockets.

The seven standard diameter contacts utilize Cole Hersee’s Spring-Grip design, with a self-adjusting spring band to provide uniform contact with the socket pins. The six small diameter contacts carry up to 25 amps and maintain multiple contact points between the plug and socket. Contacts float for proper engagement with all mating sockets.

The Thirteen Pole Plug adapts to a variety of wiring combinations, including a twisted pair for advanced communication applications. A glass-filled, plastic construction prevents rust and corrosion, and an "O" ring at the plug’s end prevents moisture from reaching the contacts. A strain relief and grommet seal isolate the connections on the terminal from mechanical strain and provide additional moisture protection.
