Alberta to reimburse some photo radar fines

EDMONTON, Alta. — If you’ve received a photo radar ticket for speeding in the Town of Devon, outside Edmonton, you may be getting off the hook.

About 6,800 drivers who were collectively fined more than $700,000 will be reimbursed after a police probe found the operator wasn’t properly trained.

A Court of Queen’s Bench ruling overturned the convictions for those receiving fines between Apr. 1 and May 26, 2004 on Hwy. 60. The government plans to refund the $700,000 already collected.
