Alberta Tories may fund rail line to oilsands
EDMONTON, Alta. — Alberta Premier Ralph Klein is not denying media reports that the province may invest in a rail line project linking Edmonton to Northern Alberta’s oilsands.
However, he did downplay reports the rail line could cost the province $300 million.
Liberal leader Kevin Taft was quick to criticize the idea, suggesting the Klein government has a history of wasting enormous amounts of money on failed projects.
