CALGARY, Alta. — Next week marks North American Brake Awareness Week and will include two educational brake maintenance checks in Alberta.

The Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA) and Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation are teaming up to host educational brake maintenance checks in Calgary and Edmonton.

The sessions will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Roadking Truck Stops in Calgary on Aug. 30 and Sherwood Park Aug. 31.

The event takes the place of the CVSA Operation Brake Check which has been held over the past few years. Trucks will be inspected with the drivers so drivers can see the procedure and the result. While no charges will be laid, drivers will have to make the required adjustments before hitting the road.

Carriers and drivers are encouraged to pop by at either session. Coffee and donuts will be provided.
