Business as usual for U.S. HOS: OTA

TORONTO, Ont. — OTA is advising carriers they should continue to follow the new U.S. HOS rule despite a recent appeals court ruling rejecting them.

As stated by FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) Administrator Annette Sandberg, Friday July 16: “Under the court’s rules of procedure, the department has 45 days to review the decision and decide whether to seek other legal remedies. During that period of time, the current hours of service rule, announced in April 2003 remains in effect”.

OTA officials say they will keep the industry informed of all developments on this issue as soon as they become available.
