Cannon named federal transport minister

OTTAWA, Ont. — Lawrence Cannon a 58-year-old MP from Pontiac, Que. has just been sworn in as the new federal minister of transport during this morning cabinet swearing in ceremony in Ottawa.

The 58-year-old Cannon is a political veteran and has a transportation background, having served as Quebec’s communications minister and as president of the Quebec Association of Urban Transit. He has also been on the board of the urban transit authority in Outaouais.
