FAST Program information sessions

TORONTO, Ont. — Drivers, carriers and importers are invited to attend free information sessions on the FAST program sponsored by a number of government groups.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce, together with the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development & Trade, Ontario Ministry of Transportation, the Canada Border Services Agency, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, will be offering the free information sessions today through this Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004.

Today and tomorrow, sessions for importers will be held at 10:30 a.m. and sessions for carriers will be held at 1 p.m. A special session for drivers will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. All sessions will be at the International Centre, Hall 5, south entrance, 6900 Airport Road, Mississauga.

FAST is a joint Canada-US program that brings greater speed, certainty, and security to the cross-border movement of commercial shipments for pre- approved importers, carriers, and drivers.

The FAST program is one of the initiatives of the Smart Border Declaration, which was signed by Canada and the United States on December 12, 2001. For more information about the FAST program, visit www.cbsa.gc.ca/fast
