Importing and exporting up for discussion at Edmonton luncheon

EDMONTON, Alta. — The Canadian Association of Importers and Exporters is hosting a luncheon March 17 which will feature Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan as the keynote speaker.

McLellan, who is also Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness will speak about her department’s role and its impact on Canada’s import and export industry. Her department is responsible for such things as national security, emergency preparedness, corrections, policing and border functions.

Also speaking at the luncheon will be Gar Knutson, Minister of State, New and Emerging Markets. He will be discussing increased business opportunities between Canada and Central America, China and India. He has been involved in recent trade missions to these regions and will be talking about his experiences there.

The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session with both speakers. The luncheon takes place Mar. 17 at the Fairmont Hotel MacDonald in Edmonton. To register, call 416-595-5333 ext. 37.
