TORONTO, Ont. — Markel Insurance president and CEO and monthly Truck News columnist, Mark Ram, will be embarking on a seven city tour to discuss trucking insurance pricing.

Ram will be talking about facts regarding trucking insurance while dispelling some common myths on the subject during his tour, which kicks off Sept. 13 in Edmonton, Alta.

“We get several questions every day on insurance pricing,” says Ram. “There are so many misconceptions out there, like that a trucker’s price is based on their insurance losses. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. Truckers need to understand how their rates are set. The more they know about insurance pricing, the more they can do to positively influence their price.”

Ram adds: “Carriers and drivers also want to know what’s been happening in the trucking insurance industry. They want to know why there’s been such turnover in trucking insurers over the years and what they can do to ensure stability for themselves. I’ll be answering all these questions and many more.”

The tour dates include: Sept. 13, Edmonton, Daltons Conference Centre; Sept. 14, Mississauga, Delta Meadowvale Resort; Sept. 20, Kitchener/Waterloo, Bingeman’s; Sept. 21, Brampton, Holiday Inn Select; Oct. 5, Ottawa, Macie’s Best Western; Oct. 13, Windsor, Caboto Club; and Oct. 14, London, Four Points London.

Space is limited so to make reservations, call Stacey Kenny of Markel at 1-888-MARKEL-1. The event is free of charge and open to all trucking operators and insurance brokers.
