WINNIPEG, Man. — Motor carriers operating in Manitoba will no longer be required to obtain and maintain operating authorities as of Jan. 1, 2005.

Changes to the Motor Vehicle Transport Act (MVTA) allow for-hire carriers operating in Manitoba to do so with only a valid safety rating from their base jurisdiction. Previously, the Motor Transport Board to Public Service Vehicle granted operating authorities to carriers operating in Manitoba.
