REGINA, Sask. — Saskatchewan carriers and truck drivers can now call a toll-free number to get regulatory information and technical advice from the province.

“I’m pleased to see the Ministry taking into account industry feedback by upgrading this existing service,” Highways and Infrastructure Minister Wayne Elhard announced Friday. “Getting rid of the long-distance costs will make it easier for commercial carriers across Saskatchewan to get the information they need before going on the road so they have an even safer and more efficient operation.”

The previous 306 area code number was receiving about 4,000 inquiries per year, the province announced. Now carriers can access the same information without incurring the long-distance costs.

The phone line operates weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The new number is: 866-933-5290.
