TDG Act under review

OTTAWA, Ont. — Transport Canada is conducting a review of the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, 1992, (TDG Act).

The review is a normal process. When the TDG Act was passed, in June 1992, a promise was made to review its application after 10 years. This review began in 2002. However, it was at first restricted to security issues, following the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

The review is now extended to all aspects of the TDG Act.
The public consultation process will be done in nine steps and could lead to a modification of the TDG Act.

Transport Canada is inviting all interested persons to send us their comments.

Comments may be general in nature or they can be very detailed, for example, they could describe a problem and even propose solutions. Comments will be used to create a list of issues for the purposes of public consultation. The list will be published in Transport Canada’s TDG Newsletter.
