GARDEN GROVE, Cal. — Teletrac has upgraded its FleetDirector communications network to transmit more data faster in a wider coverage area.

The communications and tracking system will now run over General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) networks. This will allow more expansive coverage for its vehicle location capabilities, the company says.

Teletrac is also releasing Prism, a GPRS location unit that customers can install to upgrade their current system to GPRS.

“FleetDirector’s overall mission is to improve fleet owners’ bottom line, whether through enhanced productivity, customer service, or security,” says Tony Eales, CEO of Teletrac. “Prism uses the latest wireless technology to improve on the benefits FleetDirector already provides while significantly increasing the geographic availability of our services.”
