TORONTO, Ont. — Toronto trash shipments to Michigan will be phased out by 2010 as a result of an agreement between politicians in Michigan and Ontario.

Two US senators who lobbied to ban TO trash reached an agreement with the province to reduce trash shipments by 20% by the end of 2007 and 40% by the end of 2008. All garbage will be banned by 2010.

Each day, hundreds of trucks haul trash from Toronto to landfill site sin Michigan. The province will now have to find a new destination for the loads.
