WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Homeland Security is adding more than 375 more permanent border patrol agents to various locations along the U.S./Canada border.

The new additions bring the number of U.S. border patrol agents (not inspectors) at the U.S./Canada border to 1,000.
Homeland Security also announced the deployment of additional aircraft to provide air coverage across the entire northern border.

There are currently 2,500 U.S. inspectors assigned to northern border crossing points.
