WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. Senate has voted in favour of subsidizing retrofits of older diesel engines to the tune of U.S. $1 billion.

The money would be made available to applicants via grants and loans.

The bill, which ups the $100 million approved by the U.S. House of Representatives earlier this year, aims to further encourage the reduction of diesel emissions.
