ARLINGTON, VA - The September for-hire trucking market gave back some of the tonnage gains made in the previous month, according to American Trucking Associations' (ATA) Advanced Seasonally Adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index. Tonnage slipped 0.9% in September when compared with August, however it was still up 7.4% year over year. The ATA says year-to-date, compared with the same nine months in 2016, tonnage is up 2.4%.
ARLINGTON, VA - A measure of trucking freight activity fell last month in the U.S., but remains not far from a record high level hit early this year, accordign to one fleet group, who also offered a preview into conditions for the New Year. The American Trucking Associations' (ATA) advanced seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index declined 0.9 percent in November to 134.3 from the month before, following an increase of 1.8 percent during October, which was revised downward from a first reported 1.9 percent gain. This latest index reading is just 1.1 percent below the all-time high of 135.8 reached in January 2015.
ARLINGTON, VA -- For-hire truck tonnage moved in the U.S. recovered somewhat in May while the decline the month before was cut by just over half. According to the American Trucking Associations' seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index, activity increased 1.1% last month following a revised decline of 1.4% in April, first reported as a 3% drop.
ARLINGTON, VA -- The amount of for-hire truck freight moved in the U.S. fell in April to its lowest level in a year, according to the American Trucking Associations. Its seasonally adjusted For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index declined 3% from the month before following a revised gain of 0.4% in March. The April index reading of 128.6 is the lowest level since April 2014. The all-time high of 135.8 was reached in January 2015.
