MONTREAL - The engineering and research group for the North America trucking industry, FP Innovations and its Performance Innovation Transport (PIT) Group, will have its fall 2015 Energotest event Sept. 9-18. The event by the not-for-profit will be at the Transport Canada test track operated by PMG Technologies in Blainville, QC. So what is Energotest? "The biannual PIT Energotest has become the benchmark for precise, verified and unbiased data, both in Canada and the U.S., on the return on investment fleets can expect from green technologies," said Yves Provencher, director of the PIT Group. "Energotest provides independent verification of performance that gives technology immediate credibility and supports its implementation in fleets."

Concerns at U.S. GHG Hearing, Canada Expected to Adopt

LONG BEACH, CA - Proposed regulations, expected to adopted by Canada, regarding U.S. greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and fuel efficiency standards for medium- and heavy-duty trucks were the focus of a public hearing on Tuesday in California. Officials from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held the event to gather comments about their joint proposal. An earlier hearing was held this month in Chicago. Representatives from government and environmental agencies, manufacturers, fleets and other related organizations were allowed five minutes each to make a public statement on the proposed Phase 2 GHG rules as currently outlined. A panel of top members from EPA and NHTSA listened and posed clarifying questions.

EDMONTON -- Hope for several Edmonton farmers arrived last week in the form of a turquoise Kenworth piloted by Canadian Trucking Alliance (CTA) board member Carl Rosenau, president of Rosenau Transport. Rosenau was busy hauling flatbeds full of donated hay to Edmonton-area farmers suffering from drought conditions, according to CTA. For many western farmers, this has been one of the hardest summers in 50 years, marked by weeks of drought that have decimated hay crops and left farmers struggling to feed their livestock.
