Torc testing autonomous trucks in Michigan
Torc has announced it’s now testing autonomous trucks on public roads in Michigan.
The Daimler Truck subsidiary is testing its autonomous technology installed in a Freightliner Cascadia and expanding its footprint beyond the Dallas-Fort Worth and Blacksburg, Va., regions.

“Validating our hardware and software together on public roads is a critical step in the marathon toward autonomous trucking commercialization,” said Felix Heide, head of artificial intelligence at Torc. “Each new hardware generation allows us to further validate our AI inference models, strengthen our simulation accuracy, and ensure our autonomous system performs safely and reliably in real-world conditions.”
The Michigan testing is being based out of the greater Ann Arbor area, where Torc opened an engineering office last year. The Cascadia is running Torc’s latest generation of software allowing the company to evaluate performance in a wider range of environments and seasonal conditions.
