ACT Expo has announced that incoming FedEx Freight president and CEO John Smith will deliver the opening keynote at its 2026 event, while also unveiling a speaker roster featuring nearly 400 commercial transportation leaders.

Smith, who will lead North America’s largest less-than-truckload network, is scheduled to open the event May 4. Organizers say his keynote will address freight market volatility, digital transformation and how large carriers are balancing cost discipline with investments in automation, data analytics and lower-carbon fleet strategies.

“ACT Expo is where progressive fleet leaders come to plan what’s next,” said Erik Neandross, president of TRC’s Clean Transportation Solutions group, which produces the event. “Hearing directly from an operator managing complexity at this scale will give attendees real insight into how technology and network strategy translate into competitive advantage.”

ACT Expo also confirmed keynote appearances from Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe and Mack Trucks president Stephen Roy, alongside a broader speaker lineup that includes executives from Daimler Truck North America, Volvo Trucks North America, International, Cummins, Amazon, PepsiCo, Penske, Tesla, Aurora, Waabi and FedEx.

Organizers say the conference program will focus on technologies shaping fleet decision-making, including artificial intelligence, automation, connected vehicles, advanced safety systems and zero-emission powertrains.

For the first time, ACT Expo will also offer continuing education credits through partnerships with professional fleet organizations, with more than 25 conference sessions and 10 workshops approved for certification hours.

ACT Expo is expected to draw fleet leaders from across North America seeking practical insight into deploying new technologies and improving operational performance.
