American Truckers Give Advice, Welcome New Transport Secretary

ARLINGTON, VA. — Anthony Foxx was voted in by the U.S. Senate as the new Secretary of Transportation today, and the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) and its members were quick to welcome him into his new role.

Bill Graves, ATA president and CEO, congratulated the former Charlotte mayor on his confirmation. “As I said when he was nominated, the challenges of being mayor of a large city like Charlotte are not all that different from those of being a governor, so I’m confident he will be up to the test of providing this country with the first-rate, world-class transportation system our industry and our economy demand.”

President of Combined Transport, and ATA Chairman Mike Card said that the trucking association is open and eager to work with Foxx as he adjusts to his new role.

To demonstrate that eargerness, the ATA created a video with advice and questions for the new Secretary of Transportation — it also highlights some of the major concerns U.S. truckers have.
