Armour Grows in Newfoundland with Way’s, B’y

MONCTON — Armour Transportation Systems announced yesterday that it has completed its purchase of Way’s Transport based out of Corner Brook, NL.

Armour said that the acquisition will significantly increase their presence in Newfoundland.

The purchase comes with over 150 pieces of equipment and two facilities, one in Corner Brook and the other in St. Anthony. Way’s specializes in general freight — dry van, flatbed, reefer and container moves.

The company was founded by Clyde Way in 1976, and is now run by his son, Marvin Way. “With the work ethic Clyde passed on to his sons, Marvin maintains the business practices and principles of hard work, determination and honesty,” Armour Transport said in a statement.

Marvin Way will stay on to run the business from the Corner Brook location, and the company will keep the family-name on its equipment.

But that’s in keeping with Armour, explained Wesley Armour, president and CEO of Armour Transport. “Maintaining the Armour tradition of family, we welcome another highly respected family business to our group of companies.”
