Bedard talks about bridging brands

MONTREAL – TransForce‘s president and CEO Alain Bédard says that he will consider consolidating several recent fleet acquisitions, specifically in the same-day courier and parcel delivery segments.

In a Q&A with the Financial Post, Bédard said brand consolidation is something he’ll contemplate down the road and, if it happens, TransForce is the likely name he’ll go with.

"Today, if you say TransForce, people are starting to recognize it. Three years ago, TransForce was a big name, but today it is an even bigger name. So, if you want to consolidate, you consolidate to what?" he told the paper.

TransForce consolidated its recent acquisition of DHL’s Canadian operations under the Loomis nameplete.

Bédard did stress, however, that the company is not ready to make similar moves just yet.

Bedard noted that the string of acquisitions in the sector – including Canpar, ICS Courier, ATS Retail Solutions, Dynamex and DHL — have made TransForce the second largest P&D-courier company after Purolator.
