Blue Water Bridge breaks truck traffic record

SARNIA, Ont. (April 2, 2004) — The Blue Water Bridge announced that truck volumes destined for the U.S. have set an all time record for the month of March.

Commercial traffic increased 10 per cent last month over 2003 figures. In addition, the use of the Free and Secure Trade program at the bridge is gaining significant momentum. On peak volume days, the equivalent of 8 km of stopped truck traffic is processed through the dedicated FAST lanes at the bridge.

FAST approved drivers, working for C-TPAT carriers and moving product for C-TPAT shippers, are clearing the border in minutes as opposed to waiting in line for hours, authorities say.
