Calgary Fuel Retailer To Pay for Mix Up Fix-Up
CALGARY — You can expect a loud discussion over diesel-fuel handling techniques in the coming days as more details about a gasoline-diesel mix-up at a Calgary Fuel station get revealed.
According to media reports, on Boxing Day, about 500 drivers fuelled up at Calgary Co-op’s Macleod Trail Gas Bar with what they thought was gasoline but turned out to be diesel.
The Co-op, while it investigates the cause of the error, has said it will cover the repairs, towing or rental costs associated with the mix up. The supplier has not been identified and neither has the company issued an estimate of the damages.
The Co-op has also tried to contact all the customers from Boxing Day. (Because they’re Co-op members, the company has records of purchases.)
Calgary Co-op operates 28 retail outlets across the city; the mix up affected only the Macleod Trail operation.
