Canadian Carriers Among SmartWay’s Excellence Award Winners

TORONTO — They shipped more goods, drove more miles, used less fuel and emitted fewer greenhouse gasses, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA said the winning carriers earned the SmartWay Excellence Award for being clean and efficient.

“This is a good step for the Canadian industry’s lead in green technology,” said Canadian Trucking Alliance CEO David Bradley.

“Those recognized by EPA Smartway are great examples of the many Canadian trucking companies that are improving Ontario’s air quality through green technology and operational investments,” Bradley said.

CTA’s list for this year’s award-winning OTA and CTA carriers include:

Celadon Trucking Services, Inc.

Orlicks Inc.; Polaris Transport Inc.

FedEx Ground Package System

Frit-Lay NA;

Jules Savard Inc.

Schneider National Inc.

“By participating in EPA’s SmartWay Transport Partnership and working to reduce costs and emissions, these companies are moving our nation forward to a healthier and more secure future,” said Gina McCarthy, EPA’s assistant administrator, office of Air and Radiation.
