TORONTO, Ont. — North America’s Class 8 truck sales closed out 2017 on a three-year high, thanks largely to tighter capacity in the freight market south of the border.

Here in Canada, Freightliner dominated Class 8 sales for the year, with 8,070 out of 26,141 units sold overall, according to our figures from WardsAuto. For Class 7, International was the top seller, with 1,785 out of 4,728. Hino was the leader in Canada’s Class 6 sales, with 610 out of 1,360. In Class 5, Ford was the leader, representing 3,792 of the 7,405 sold overall in the weight class.
