WINNIPEG, Man. — Susan Pike-Campbell of Winnipeg Motor Express has been named the first annual Cancom Manitoba Dispatcher of the Year.

“Sue is a very hard and diligent worker, she understands the needs of her drivers and the company,” said John Demelo, general manager, Winnipeg Motor Express. “Sue has very good communication skills and is very organized. She has volunteered for the Tevlon Ambulance Service.”

It’s the first time a Manitoba Trucking Association Dispatcher of the Year Award has been presented. The award is sponsored by Cancom.

“With the challenges our industry faces today such as increasing operating costs and the never ending driver shortage, the role of a dispatcher has become even more significant,” Cancom said in a release. “A dispatcher is a driver’s mainstay, and often the only contact with the rest of the company, and plays a critical role in keeping the flow of information moving. A dispatcher is supposed to be a messenger, a listener and a trouble shooter.”
