CBP announces new port hours at Que-NY; delays in Niagara

WASHINGTON — U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), has announced the Border Inspection Stations at Churubusco, N.Y-Franklin Center, Quebec and Cannons Corners will revise their hours of operation for the winter.

Effective Nov. 1, the new business hours of operation at the facilities will be 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., until April 30, 2009.

Meanwhile, CBP in Buffalo, N.Y., is warning drivers of possible delays due to construction in the Buffalo/Niagara region. The construction, expected to run through to November, is for the installation of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology at all four border crossings in the Region.

The use of RFID technology will provide CBP officers with passenger and law enforcement information as the traveler approaches the primary inspection booth.

This will result in reduced processing time and a more secure process, CBP says.
