CCMTA to hold briefing sessions on load securement standards

OTTAWA (Feb. 18) — With revised North American standards for load securement expected next year, the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators has planned meetings in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland to discuss the proposal with truckers and shippers in the area.

The final draft of the standard was introduced last fall. It outlines performance and operating requirements for anchor points, tiedown assemblies, blocking, dressed lumber, metal coils, and other issues.

The session schedule:

> Feb. 25: Campbellton Memorial Civic Centre, 44 Salmon Blvd., Campbellton, N.B., 8:30 a.m.
> Feb. 26: Fredericton Inn, 1315 Regent St., Fredericton, 8:30 a.m.
> Feb. 27: Cambridge Suites, 330 Esplanade, Sydney, N.S., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
> March 1: Hotel St. John’s, Kenmount Road, St. John’s, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
> March 2: Holiday Inn, 48 West St., Corner Brook, Nfld., 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
> March 3: Holiday Inn, 99 Wise Road, Dartmouth, N.S., 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
