COMPETITION WATCH: Transforce acquires Rebel Transport

MONTREAL, Que. — TransForce Income Fund has acquired Rebel Transport Ltd. of Edmonton, Alberta.

Rebel Transport is a specialized trucking company that services the upstream oil and gas industry in western Canada as well as related construction activities. The Company’s fleet moves a variety of heavy oilfield related equipment and supplies to off-highway job sites and its customer base includes the largest oil and gas companies in Canada.

General Manager RonLystang will continue to lead the Rebel management team following the acquisition and will report to Darshan S. Kailly, President and CEO of TransForce operating subsidiary Canadian Freightways.

Rebel Transport generates revenue of approximately $13 million annually.

“The acquisition of Rebel Transport will enable TransForce unitholders to benefit from our increased participation, through our operating subsidiary Canadian Freightways, in the growing oil and gas exploration business,” said Alain Bdard, Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer of TransForce Income Fund.
