COMPETITION WATCH: Transforce announces plan to acquire Le Groupe Fortier

MONTREAL, Ont. — TransForce Income Fund continues on its aggressive acquisition strategy with an announcement it has signed a letter of intent to acquire Le Groupe Fortier of Pintendre, Qu.

The companies in Groupe Fortier include Transport Fortier Inc. and Boostway International Corp. They specialize in the consolidation of less-than- truckload shipments and truckload transportation between Canada and the United States. The group has annual revenues of approximately $50 million. It also has more than 300 employees located in several facilities, primarily in Quebec and a fleet of 150 trucks and 325 closed trailers.

Its president, Real Fortier, who has built the company since it was created in 1994, will continue to lead the operations after the closing of the acquisition, which is expected shortly.
