Continental Tire hikes rubber prices

AKRON,, Ohio — Continental Tire North America is the latest tire maker in line to raise rubber prices in the U.S. and Canada.

The company announced a price increase of up to 10 percent on all Continental, General, Semperit and Private Brand Truck tires.

This increase is effective October 1, 2008 and will vary by market line and tire size.

This price hike, says the company, is to offset the increasing costs of raw materials, such as rubber, steel, carbon black and crude oil.
