Contrans Aquires MacKinnon’s Dry Van, Combines with Laidlaw

WOODSTOCK, ON. — Contrans Group Inc. announced today that it has acquired the Van Division of MacKinnon Transport Inc.

Through MacKinnon’s court-supervised restructuring, Contrans has taken control of MacKinnon’s Dry Van business and combined it with Laidlaw Carriers Van LP.

The purchase gives Contrans the contracts of 80 drivers and owner-operators, and sub-lease the required equipment to continue servicing MacKinnon’s Van division customers.

Stan Dunford, Contrans chairman and CEO, said that the acquisition is a real boost to Laidlaw’s van division.

"The combination of MacKinnon’s Van business with our existing operations will provide a benefit to drivers and customers and will generate overall efficiencies," he said.

"It has been a pleasure working with the MacKinnon team through their restructuring process and we are pleased to add this division to our group."
