David Mullen leaving Mullen Trucking

CALGARY — David Mullen is leaving the family trucking business he started his career at.

Mullen Group Income Fund announced today that David Mullen has resigned his position as vice-president and business unit leader of Mullen Trucking, one of the Fund’s independently operated businesses.

He will join Cordy Oilfield Services, where he has already been serving as Chairman of the Board. He will now function as Chairman and CEO.

Cordy President Sid Dutchak will continue in that role. “Cordy has grown aggressively and the addition of Mr. Mullen will significantly enhance our team’s ability to achieve our objectives. David’s vast operational leadership lends itself well to our expansion plans,” Dutchak said.

Cordy is a rapidly expanding company, which has purchased more than half a dozen oilfield services, drilling, and construction companies in the past few months.

Since joining Mullen in 1978, David has served in various operating and marketing capacities and has been instrumental in the development of the long-haul trucking segment and helping the parent company grow into Canada’s second-largest transportation provider.

He will continue to be available to the Mullen Group through December on a consulting basis and thereafter as the need arises, says Mullen chairman and western trucking mogul Murray K. Mullen.

“It will be difficult to replace the experience and enthusiasm that Dave brought to our business. His leadership style and knowledge of the industry have been a major contributor to Mullen Trucking’s successes over the years,” Murray Mullen said in a press release. “In addition to his many accomplishments he has selected and mentored a management team that is more than capable of continuing to provide quality service and leadership to the many Mullen Trucking customers and employees.”
